The D34x5 protective lens (34mm diameter, 5mm thickness) is a key consumable commonly used in the BOCI BLT421 series fiber laser cutting heads. It is typically used as a "lower protective lens," mounted above the nozzle to block metal splatter and dust generated during cutting, thus protecting the expensive focusing lens.

The lifespan of Fiber Laser Lens
The lifespan of laser cutting and laser welding machine lenses can vary depending on several factors. These factors include the laser power, operating conditions, maintenance practices, and the quality of the lenses themselves.
Typically, high-quality lenses used in laser cutting and welding machines have a relatively long lifespan. With proper care and maintenance, they can last for hundreds or even thousands of hours of operation. However, it's important to note that the lenses will gradually degrade over time due to factors such as thermal stress, beam intensity, and debris accumulation.
Regular cleaning and inspection of the lenses are essential to prolong their lifespan. Keeping the lenses free from dirt, debris, and residue will help maintain their optical clarity and efficiency. Additionally, following the manufacturer's recommended maintenance procedures and replacing the lenses when necessary will ensure optimal performance and extend their lifespan.

Imported Blue Film Laser Protective Lens JGS1 Optical Quartz Glass Laser Protection Optical Lens
Laser Cutting Head
The primary function of a laser cutting head is to focus the laser beam to a small spot size and accurately direct it onto the workpiece. It contains optical components, such as lenses or mirrors, that manipulate the laser beam to achieve precise cutting.
Laser Protective Mirror
Thoroughly clean both the laser focus lens and the lens mounting area on the laser machine before installation.
Laser Collimating Lens
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as safety goggles, to protect your eyes from laser radiation.
Laser Focusing Lens
Ensure that the laser focus lens is compatible with your specific laser machine.
Laser Ceramic Part
The ceramic ring is a key component of fiber laser cutting heads (such as Precitec and Raytools), mounted above the nozzle. Its main function is to transmit the electrical signals collected by the nozzle to maintain a stable distance between the nozzle and the workpiece, and also serves as a "pre-break point" for impact protection.
Laser Cutting Nozze
The nozzle removes molten metal and protects the lens by controlling the flow and direction of the auxiliary gas. Choosing the right nozzle depends primarily on the thickness and type of the material being cut, as well as the laser head model.
Common Nozzle Types and Selection
Depending on the cutting process, nozzles are generally divided into single-layer and double-layer types:
Single Layer Nozzle
Applications: Primarily used for cutting stainless steel, aluminum alloys, brass, etc., using nitrogen (N2) or compressed air.
Advantages: Slower gas flow rate effectively prevents oxidation of stainless steel surfaces, resulting in a smoother cut.
Double Layer Nozzle
Applications: Specifically designed for cutting low-carbon steel using oxygen (O2).
Advantages: Features an internal airflow channel, providing a fast and concentrated gas flow rate, which helps assist the oxidation reaction and quickly removes heavy slag.
Nozzle Orifice (Diameter) Selection Guide
Based on material thickness, recommended common orifice diameters are as follows:
Thin Plates (below 3mm): A 1.0mm - 1.5mm orifice diameter is recommended to ensure a fine cut.
Medium-Thick Plates (3mm - 10mm): A 2.0mm - 3.0mm orifice diameter is recommended to increase airflow and improve slag removal efficiency.
For thick plates (10mm and above): It is recommended to use a large diameter of 3.0mm - 6.0mm or larger to ensure that the gas can penetrate deep cuts.
How to extend the lifespan of laser consumables?
The key to extending the lifespan of laser cutting machine consumables (protective lenses, nozzles, ceramic rings) lies in regular cleaning, standardized operation, and environmental control.
1. Promptly remove dirt and dust from the machine body, cutting head, sensors, and other components to prevent lens contamination.
2. Depending on the frequency of laser cutting machine use, regularly and carefully wipe reflectors, focusing lenses, etc., with anhydrous alcohol.
3. In high-temperature or humid environments, pay attention to whether water vapor condenses and clean it promptly.
