What is laser welding focus lens?
The focusing lens in laser welding is mainly used to focus the laser beam onto the welding area, ensuring the laser energy is concentrated to achieve the required temperature and power density. Its functions include:
Focusing the laser beam: Focuses the laser into a small spot to increase energy density.
Improving welding efficiency: Concentrates the energy to enhance welding performance.
Controlling heat: Precisely controls heat input to avoid overheating or poor weld quality.
Improving welding precision: Ensures high precision and micron-level welding.
The focusing lens is typically made of optical glass or special materials with high light transmission and heat resistance.
What is laser welding collimating lens?
The collimating lens in laser welding is used to adjust the laser beam into a parallel beam, ensuring stable laser transmission. Its functions include:
Collimating the laser beam: Converts a scattered laser beam into a parallel one, improving transmission efficiency.
Improving beam quality: Reduces beam scattering and energy loss.
Stabilizing transmission: Ensures the laser beam doesn't shift during transmission, maintaining focus stability.
Improving welding precision: Reduces laser beam deviation, enhancing welding accuracy.

How do I replace the focusing lens and collimating lens of my laser welding gun?
1. Focusing Lens
Location: Inside the welding gun, near the nozzle assembly.
Replacement Steps:
a. Remove the nozzle and copper tip to expose the lens assembly.
b. Unscrew the focusing lens barrel using a lens spanner (check thread direction-some brands use reverse threads).
c. If the old lens is stuck, soak it in acetone for 5 minutes before removal.
d. Before installing the new lens, verify its surface flatness with a laser interferometer (tolerance < λ/10, where λ is the laser wavelength).
2.Collimator Lens
Disassembling the Optical Path Module
a.Use a hex key to remove the collimator housing (note the position of the O-ring).
b.Record the lens orientation (typically, the coated surface faces the laser beam input direction).
c.Removing the Old Lens
d.Use a vacuum pickup tool to grip the lens edge (avoid contact with optical surfaces).
e.Inspect the lens mount for signs of burning (replace the mount if damaged).
f.Installing the New Lens
g.Clean the new lens with acetone (unidirectional wiping).
h.Secure the retaining ring with a torque wrench (typical value: 0.8-1.5 N·m).
